Thanks. . .I see that two of the plate numbers got cut off. ..I will have to reprint the page. That will give me an opportunity to space out the rows better to use up the whole page.

Could you speak about the "Copperish" Orange Brown?

The copperish looks a lot like the "reddish." My example is from one of Bill Amonette's charts. I may get it certified as it carries a big price premium (as do a couple of the other shades).

Philazilla, thanks for the reply.
Your term copperish made me think that it appears to you 'like' a description of Copper Brown.

Or is it a stamp that was actually mounted in Bill Amonette's color chart? That would be great!

I ask because in my "ignorant" observation and limited experience, it seems that if your stamp wasn't ID'd at one point by Amonette, Chase or Hulme it's tough to get buy in on some of these rare colors.

A long time back, Copper OB always was required to come from Plate 2E.
In other words, if the stamp wasn't 2E, it wasn't Copper OB.

I presume that is still the case, although I haven't kept up with that.

The copperish is 69L2E - the position just got cut off in the little box in Illustrator where I make my album pages. It was mounted to a Bill Amonette color chart according to the collector/dealer I bought it from. I will see about getting some records of the provenance on this and the Reddish and "Intense" which came off of one of his color charts.

Intense OB is a rare color. If that is legit, it is a very nice item.

I am pretty sure all of them are legit. ..I will send the rare ones out for certs. The color doesn't translate well in the low-res scan, but the unusual OB colors are pretty striking. The reddish is my favorite. I also like the EOB early usage. At one point, my stamp was the EKU of the EOB. I think someone found an Oct. 4.

I have no idea where things are these days with regard to getting colors verified.

20 years ago, when I was collecting, you basically had to get Amonette to sign off on it. Wilson Hulme's opinion, also, was accepted.

People would send things to the PF, but, at least at the time, it was hit and miss as to whether Bill would agree with some of what they certified, at least. Of course, what I don't know, is how many that they were getting right vs the few I certainly heard of that they missed on.

Winston, I'm sure is well up to date on all of this, so I'm sure he can point you in the right direction.

I'm looking to get a paper trail on the fact that Bill Amonette owned, plated, and color-matched these stamps. I have a bunch that have his handwritten notes with them. . .They are not absolute proof he owned them and that the note matches the stamp, but I think it would be tough to match a specific plate position and general description of one of his notes with a similar-enough stamp to match.

I would be interested in how the PF would certify these. . .I may just call and ask them.
