So I've decided to take a collection that is nicely mounted in an album and remount the stamps in another album. Reason is the old album smells like cigs. So most of the stamps are nicely mounted in close back mounts, so I'd like to keep them in the mounts and transfer them to my new book. Looking for suggestions on how best to do this and what glue. I got a glue stick and it worked well for some of the loose ones.

Pull the album page away from the mount which is laying flat on a desk . Don't pull up the mount off of the page ,because then it will not lay flat in the new album. The plastic mount is plastic and bending it will remain bend .
ebjazz, take the stamps out of the mounts before you remove the mounts from the page. If the stamps smell of smoke they will need fresh air for a few weeks before being remounted. You can also do a search on baking soda, and ozone which are two of several methods to remove cigarette smell.
Opinion: Follow Floortrader's advice. Know that from experience.
For re attachment use archival double sided tape, For a single stamp, you only need a strip 3mm wide, and you can remove again, or move without damage within the first few hours.
A method I've had success with when moving mounts around is to first remove the stamp from its mount, then using your stamp tongs (pointed tip seems to work best) positioned so half the tong is under the mount and half above. Use a sliding - sawing motion to break the mount free from its page. If using split back mounts and done carefully, most of the time the mount can just be rotated so its fresh adhesive is at the top, and it can be reused (saves a fortune over time).
