vayolene's envelope notwithstanding, there seems to be a paucity of Russian Christmas stamps. In 2005 there was a Happy New Year and Merry Christmas (combined) stamp. I don't know if there have been any others.  But for several decades before that, and since, just Happy New Year. Some of the Happy New Year stamps have Christmas themes such as Father Frost/Time/Whatever (Santa Claus look-alike) or a decorated tree. And there was a set from 2000 celebrating the 2000th year of the birth of Jesus, through 19th century art, but I don't those qualify as Christmas stamps. Clearly, celebrating the New Year is a bigger deal in Russia. |
