Got about 460 Small Queen 3 cent stamps at the local stamp club..Nice to see these cancels...Could not pu all 460 cancels here, but put a couple...Hope you get the itch to start collecting them. Robert Also one seemed a little different than the rest... I know computer screens are a problem with stamps verification of colours..But the one on the right, next to a normal one on the left...Has some characteristics of a Scott 37b and 37d...I will let you decide.. See picture below..

Check it with a perf gage? Not good at judging color, but unitrade says the 37d should be perf 12 1/2.
I have a pile of small queens, but none in copper red. |

Robert Distinguishing color on these is really a challenge. I have one with a red shade to it that I can't pin down. Copper as far as I know has a brownish shade. What copper red is supposed to look like is something I can only guess at. |

Looking on ebay the other day, one of the sellers had a picture of a Small Queens color chart. I've tried to google a color chart, no luck. Any advice on where to find one? |

Yeah, easy to say! I don't remember the sellers name. I suppose I could try "recently viewed" or something. |

I did try philatelee, I finally looked in my recents and he was where I saw the color chart. Messaged him, but he couldn't remember where or who he got it from. |

Try searching for Morris Color Guide? Used correctly, it's a useful reference. |

Gettingold, one can only guess shade from a scan but yours looks to be a somewhat washed out variant of the rose carmine 41a. A scan of the back is sometimes useful, as the commoner #41 vermilions tend to bleed colour to the back. |

Not sure what to make of the reverse. I've seen fugitive ink on other stamps but don't think I'm seeing it here. Stamp perf 12x12. |

Looks like a 41 now, with printing ink bled through. Even an excellent scan like yours cannot be trusted to capture shades. |

Well guys Had a good stroke of luck looking through these 460 Scott 37's and Scott 41's.....Came across a great stamp, Scott 41vii... Looked in Ralph's re-entries.com and found he had one poor stamp, Scott 41vii...He asked if anyone out there had a second copy, well now he does...Mine. It is in Unitrade..No picture..No price.. Lucky eh..?? Hoping it is a Scott 37iv...Ya right. Robert |
