Canada Tagged Series 454 Thru 544 & 466 - 468B & 549 & 550

How come 'Ottawa Tagged' is not listed in Unitrade ? Next question, how can you tell the difference btwn. Wpg. and Ottawa Tagging ????

Winnipeg tagging glows for a few seconds after flourescent light has applied to it. It is usually 4 or 8mm wide and if you hold the stamp at the right angle you can see the application of tagging. Especially if the stamp has been in daylight/sunlight for a period of time. time frame Jan 1962 till 1972

Ottawa tagging or general tagging, is on/off, tagging disappears right after the light has removed. In most cases you can not see the tagging with the naked eye. It is usually 3-4mm wide. There is 2 types of Ottawa tagging. OP2 and OP4, OP4 tagging can migrate/bleed onto other stamps. In some cases the backing of stamps turn a full shade of yellowish.

so Winnipeg has a phosphorescent tagging and Ottawa a fluorescent tagging. And both taggings are yellowish in contrast with the whitish fluorescence of OBA's in the paper pulp or coatings!?

That's good, have to try that, right away, thanks but I don't see the Ottawa tagging in Unitrade, why ???

If you look in Unitrade (intro to the Centennial issue), you will see that it is called "General (Ottawa) Tagging"

Thereafter it is noted as GT2 (meaning General Ottawa Tagged - 2 bar).

How new is your Unitrade? Mine is 2018, but it as been that way for some time.

For the Centennial stamps there are two types of General (Ottawa) Tagging: OP2 and the OP4 that migrates. They are difficult to see without a UV light and are usually about 3-4mm wide.

They are called GT2 in Unitrade when describing the Centennial stamps.

Not really sure what you are saying. The first stamps to have any tagging were the Wildings. They used Winnipeg tagging only.

Later stamps used different tagging methods/types/chemicals (some experimental). The Centennials used the Winnipeg, the OP2 and OP4 (General Ottawa) tagging methods.
