In addition to above:
For auctions you can try Ocean Park Stamp Auctions, the proprietor is a precancel specialist. |

Actually we should have a site only for us collectors, to sell and exchange. ebay and thdir policies and Paypal is a tremendous danger to lose money and stamps.Amazon is not better. We can have a fixed price to be member. |

Quote: chasa - it seems as I am relatively new the email system has locked me out from sending or receiving. Ideas? Our community requires folks to have at least 50 posts before they can buy/sell/use message system. If we allowed new members to use the message system few people would be happy with the spam and other abuses that they would see. Please do not attempt to 'work-around' the rule with any ideas. Don |

While I get the rationale for making someone post 60 times before communicating with members, and I've seen it on other forums for other collectibles I pursue, it's far from perfect. There is no guarantee of honesty, integrity, or sincerity because someone posts 60 times. In other venues, that is often counted from posts that say things like: "Nice find!" or "Cool!" or "I hope the next release includes what I want."
A suggestion is to have a referral system. There are at least 6 long term, reputable stamp dealers in Canada who would vouch for me. That would be quicker, and benefit everyone who wants to buy or sell.
The 60 post rule also will be harder to find players for in a world that is getting increasingly about immediate gratification and putting your free time to the best use - especially if you want to be inviting to a new generation of collectors. Managing a company of about 200 staff, it will likely be a long time before I post 60 times here - and I'll find other ways to fulfill my needs.
Respectfully...

As an unpaid volunteer who already invests 15+ hours per week for the community, I am not up for checking 6 references for the 5-6 new members we get daily. Spammers and other abusers will not have any problems listing 6 fake philatelic references.
Perhaps you will have better luck with other online resources that will cater to 'immediate gratification'. Don |

To each their own... Maybe I can get up to 60 posts by the time this thread burns out. BTW: I'm talking about the instant gratification expected by the next generation, rather than my own. |

Osiris, welcome to the forum. It is a great place for continuing education about stamps and postal history, its main purpose for being; but it is much more. The commradary is pretty good concerning the eclectic group of intellectuals, specialists, dealers, enthusiasts, beginners, etc. that make up this forum.
Yes, we all want to trade, sell and purchase, but be patient as it will not take very long to hit 50 posts, and you will be able to contact other members directly through the email system. It is well worth the the time you put in. You asked for the names of dealers who had precancels for sale and a few came through, and you probably already deal with Gary Lyon, he usually has them in his mail sales and auctions.
