Have run in to a proverbial brick wall trying to complete (or at least add to) my Ecuador collection. Spent way too much time going through every single page, yes, all 103, on ebay looking for stamps and found one I needed. Any suggestions as to where to look? Seems as though some stamps might as well have never been printed. Much appreciated!

I have a fair number of Ecuador duplicates that could be traded/given away, but it's all common stuff. Which I would imagine you already have. Happy to check however for something specific.
Assuming you've tried Hipstamp (I see 11,000+ listed) and Delcampe (16,000+)? |

Daniel F. Kelleher auctions has what appears to be a real nice Ecuador collection in the Collections auction that begins tomorrow. Current bid is $1,500.
Wish I had known earlier about your interest. I gave away an Ecuador collection a few months ago to the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library. I never directly collected the country; what I had came from many purchases over the years of world wide collections.
Have you checked the APS Stamp Store?

Me too! I am trying to fill out a Minkus WW Album and have been at it for > 20 yrs. Sometimes (as many WW collectors know), it's the cheapest stamps that are the most elusive! Here's the Ecuador stamps I am looking for. If anyone has any they are willing to sell or trade for, let me know. I've checked Hipstamp over the years and these never come up or it is from one seller overseas where postage is prohibitive. |

Three or four from your wantlist are on stamps2go. If you haven't already, you might check POPPE-STAMPS (I didn't look). |

To start, is stampworld legit? Have trolled those stamps; but have only bought on Hipstamp and ebay; both of which I check often but have run out of luck on both at present. Canyoneer; am missing everything you have listed, and then some. To start, 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 18, 34 and 36-38. The Presidential series of 1911-28 is also curiously hard to find (#'s 198-215.) Have nary a one found unused to date. |

The desperation of worldwide collectors ...
There are a couple Spanish stamps I have been needing and looking for for years. Cheap $1 stamps. Just yesterday I pounced on a first day cover with these for $18. I know it's a sin to soak these off cover but ... |

Well, I am no where near an expert or an intermediate, I am barely a novice, but I do know that in a couple of totes around here, there are some stamps from Ecuador. If I have any of the items you are seeking, we could do a buy, sale, trade, or whatever. I am not looking to make big bucks. I am not even looking for those hidden gems. My dad collected stamps and stuff for over 60 years. I am just trying to organize and identify what is there. Maybe one day that stuff will have a new home, but for now, it is my responsibility. |

BakerJ, Thanks for any looking you could do. I could do cash or trade ... I have a lot of foreign accumulated over the years at the ready. |

Also interested in that as well BakerJ; open to trade, cash or a combo thereof. Canyoneer and I are likely in the same boat; you see a set of 4 or 5 in Scott with a value $4.50 for the set thinking you'll find at least one on Hipstamp or ebay, then nothing. And not even really old stuff, I'm talking 1920s-1940s or so. I did find a few on the APS website, and a few more at Stamps2go. Thanks for the advice there, somewhat naively assumed the APS site would have only or mostly US. I'm guessing it will be almost impossible to find all of the higher-dollar officials though; have found a random one here and there, but imagine that's going to be a tough task to find every single one unused. Canyoneer, I'll post a photo of my stock book with my extra Ecuadors. Hopefully you can find something in there to fill a hole or two. Guess that's why we suffe...umm enjoy this hobby!!! |
