This past Sunday evening I placed an on line order or some supplies with a vendor in France. He shipped using UPS. They arrived yesterday afternoon.

I'm still in disbelief. How on earth.. I order from time to time from Nordfrim and also Schaubek and those always take 3-4 weeks. They usually hang up in customs. Does UPS somehow bypass all this?

Nice to be able to post about a good buying experience!

Coincidentally, I received some stamps - through Canada Post - that were sent from France on Monday. They arrived this morning. Somewhat astounding.

Recently bought some from Belgium and they took a week; order from Israel took 6 weeks.

Always wondered if it was random, or country-specific as to longer/shorter shipping times.

25 or 30 years ago I rang from the UK to Minot North Dakota to place an order and I received the goods through the ordinary mail in almost exactly 48 hours.I thought that showed a most impressive service from all involved. I wouldn't be sure of getting there in 48 hours if I took scheduled airline flights. The order was for Decals not Stamps. ordering stamps within the UK I find delivery time depends on the store, and the complexity and or value of the stamp ordered. a store that got a single stamp costing about £150.00 to me on the second day by mail. The same store faced with a £50.00 order for lots of cheap sets of stamps took nearly 6 weeks to assemble and despatch the order.

Yes, courrier companies have a special "express" arrangement with customs worldwide, which government-run post services don't have. (Which is why Canada Post uses FedEx to deliver "Priority" mail to the USA.)
