I searched past threads and is it still true that stamps from Buriatia are all fakes? They are still quite nice looking stamps.

The Buryat Republic is a federal subject of Russia so would likely use Russian stamps. I don't see it listed under Russia or under its own heading in my Scott catalogs.

Many Russian republics issue Bogus stamps like this one. They even use Russian stamps with Fantasy overprints which ebay sellers list as Locals. Some are very expensive and find their way into topical collections.

Sheesh ! [Slaps his forehead in frustration]

This is what I love about stamp collecting. When I was young, I used to want to learn about all the places on all the stamps I saw, or learn about the subject of the stamp. I've been collecting over 50 years, I am 58, and I have never heard of Buryatia. I looked it up on Wikipedia, and learned about a whole new place!! Thank you, Stampdog, rod222, and stamp collecting for broadening my horizons once again!!

Thanks, nice words Mootermutt.
Oft called out as "Wallpaper" etc,
but the Cynosure here, is to educate.

It can be, as you said, ID of a territory,
or simply, stamps to avoid "paying for" etc.

They exist, I present, the rest is up to the observer.

I have similar stamps of "Kamchatka" and I saw it on a documentary recently, an absolutely beautiful territory, stunning snow covered mountains.
