Hi Everybody !

George here. I am 61 years old from Connecticut.
I started collecting stamps due to my mother who introduced all or most of her six children when I was about 8. It stuck with two of us. Me and my older brother. I am the most prolific of the two by far. About once every 10-15 years I pay attention again and add to my collection. My current run is definitely the most ambitious, as I am attempting to finally fill my book.

Question: I have finally run out of my old HE Harris "Crystal Mounts" (my last package I purchased for $0.49 in 1970). As best I can tell, they are no longer made. Can anyone tell me where I can get something similar? I can't switch to something with black background at this point (showguard). Crystal Mounts were long sleeves that you cut to fit the stamp.

Help !!

Welcome! Not sure about crystal mounts though. Certainly remember them, but do not know if there is a similar style mount out there.

Welcome.
Unfortunately Crystal Mounts are known to damage stamps. The recommendation would be to remove them before they begin to affect your stamps. Don

I am glad to see the topic addressed. I will try to convert out of any crystal mounts and not use the small amount I have that are still unused. If gmess38 would like them, I would be happy to provide what I have to him. Is he able to message me via the site? My biggest challenge is getting what I have better organized.

I am trying to respond to individual replies to my initial post but can't seem to figure out how, so i'm using this function instead.

Someone mentioned that crystal mounts damage stamps. I have had my stamps in crystal mounts for nearly a half century and they are all doing fine so far.

Are there any specific instances?

George

You come into the community seeking help and then question the help that others try to give you?

Perhaps you could make this more intuitive.

Then you send a message to staff telling us we should improve the free community?

Then you break two forum rules by posting a for sale and your phone number?

Welcome.

I have no experience of Crystal Mounts, but know you can get clear mounts from probably any supply dealer.
