Here is the low value 5 (pf) stamp (Mi #3279) from the DDR's October 3, 1989 set of four commemorating the 40th anniversary of the country. Stamp depicts young learners using pencils and paper.

On September 30, 1977 the USA issued this 13c stamp (Sc #1726) to commemorate the bicentenary of the drafting of the Articles of Confederation at York Town (now York), Pennsylvania.

On September 17, 1987 the USA issued this 22c stamp (Sc #2360) to commemorate the bicentenary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.

This September 2, 1983 20c stamp (Sc #2052) of the USA commemorates the bicentenary of the signing of the Treaty of Paris. The artwork of the stamp is based on the unfinished painting Treaty of Paris (1783, Winterthur Collection) by American artist Benjamin West. The stamp art removes the standing John Jay and the seated William Temple Franklin, but adds the seated figure holding the quill pen.

Here is the USA's August 14, 1964 5c stamp commemorating the 400th anniversary of the birth of English playwright, poet and actor William Shakespeare (1564-1616).
