Good evening, I would like the group's opinion as to the plate of this Penny Black. I believe it is Plate 2, based on examples online (with the slanted "L"), but am uncertain.

Any feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks very much!

Tshew. Nice copy tied to piece with 4 margins. Will let the experts weigh in on the plate position.

Welcome tshew

I believe it's a plate 7. Lovely stamp!

It's just the comparison of the positions of the check letters across the plates for each stamp lettered NL.

If you follow this link https://www.spink.com/private-treat...tructions#NA and scroll down a bit to the NL and click on large you'll see what I mean

Thank-you! I was looking for a new link to that page as the one listed in another post I read on this forum (from a few years ago) is now broken.

Both plates 2 and 7 have the slanted "L", so I wasn't sure. In my example there is also some white space in the "O" of postage... which I thought may be the "O" flaw some sites mention -- which would make it more likely to be from plate 2, but since posting my request for help, I have read that that flaw is actually found in the "O" of "One".

Anyway, I do very much appreciate your help! As a collector of Canadian stamps, this is really out of my comfort level but since I plan to make up a presentation page for it to lead into my collection I'm appreciative that I can now properly label it.

Best regards.
Todd.
