'Some of the most valuable antique stamps are the ones featuring presidents, such as President Lincoln, President Washington, and President Franklin. Civil War-era stamps in general are typically more valuable than newer stamps.'

This is a paragraph from the introduction to stamp collecting on the ebay Stamps section. I seem to recall this being commented on some time ago and several members on here contacting ebay about how utterly dumb this looks. They never changed it. 'Antique Stamps'(!)

Doesn't ebay have anyone on their staff who knows anything about stamps or do they just sell them?

Apparently, they don't have anyone on their staff who knows anything about American history, either (see "President Franklin").

Okay, Franklin was President of Pennsylvania from 1785 to 1788, but I doubt that whoever wrote that absurd introduction was aware of that.

I doubt ebay knows anything about most of the items sold through their platform. And they're perfectly happy that way, so long as people keep using them.
