The beautiful big paintings of "Nature of America" were a great success. They were copied into large sheets with self-adhesive stamps illustrating flora and fauna in various ecosystems. John Dawson panted 12 of them. The cactus mouse (Peromyscus eremicus) in the Sonoran desert is hiding from a rattlesnake. US 1999

Another painting by John Dawson shows life in the dunes of the Great Lakes. The white footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus) is featured in one of the stamps.

This is what I pictured what role a mouse could barely play on stamps at first place! But after seeing so many great stamps from all over the world, I am glad although I am so wrong! :-)

Hi, Kris, you know what I saw yesterday? You are right, mouse can be very defensive, and sometimes they can even be aggressive enough to eat the snake!

The Gruffalo (tale by Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler)

A mouse walks in the forest and meets dangerous animals (a fox,a snake,an owl)
Each time he escapes by pretending he's going to have a dinner with a "Gruffalo",some kind of terrific monster.
But later he encounters a real Gruffalo....

Reminds of Tome & Jerry on the Christmas Eve! Glad to see Mouse and Cat are in peace together on stamp.

A Mongolian folktale. A cat lama ate his mouse disciples secretly#65292;the fearful and suspicious mice came up with a good idea, and gave him a bell present and found out the truth at last.

Another one of those large sheets of "Nature of America" includes Ord's kangoroo rat (Dipodomys ordii) in its burrow. Great Plains Prairie, 2001. Kangaroo rats look more like mice and are as small as mice but do have furry tails. Their long jumping legs make them look a bit like minute kangaroos.

The Ukraine issued a jumping mouse (Stylodipus telum), similar to the kangaroo rat together with a bird of prey in 2001. These small rodents live in much of central Asia; their tails are long and help them jump through their territories.

The small five-toed Jerboa (Allactaga elater) is yet another hopping, mouse-like rodent of arid regions. In the stamp of Armenia, 2012, one sees how large its ears are - they serve as cooling surfaces when it's really hot.
