The first article entitled: The 1917 "Red Error", Part I: What Actually Caused the BEP's "Blunder"? - starting with the February 2012 Issue of US Specialist which can be found on the website USStamps.org. Issues prior to 2018 are available to anyone.
This is a well-known mistake, and these stamps have added value now to collectors. The mistake has been extensively discussed in stamp publications for generations. Catalogues also note this.
