Hello,

I just found some perforation and other varieties in the internet, in this link you can see some of them (images may take some time to load there).
https://stampauctionnetwork.com/v/v507690.cfm

What is going on with the Sassone values of those varieties? I know of course that CV is always very high in all countries, but this? Is the Sassone CV really that high?

Some examples:

Sassone 1461d: CV about 50.000 USD, suggested bid: 325 USD
Sassone 1462b: CV about 80.000 USD, suggested bid: 700 USD
Sassone 1540b: CV about 28.000 USD, suggested bid: 225 USD

All items show only "CLOSED", I guess they were not sold?
This would not be a surprise as I know from other countries like US stamps that a shifted perforation is nice to have but not a high value rarity.

Thank you for any answers.

on the other hand I found an article where is said that the 120L "XX Giornata Filatelica" from 1978 which also is only bad perforated would start at 15.000 EUR at an auction - anybody knows if it sold?

Assuming that the catalog values are correct, this tells you a lot about the market value of modern Italian stamps.

I am not sure if the CV is correct, that is one reason for this topic here. Normally this kind of "error" should not be listed that high in Sassone. Anybody has this catalog to verify?

As written above, the 120L stamp is also listed on Philasearch for thousands of dollars, and the article writes about it as a great rarity. But it is also only misperforated.

Could it be that theoretically shifted perforation are - for whatever reason - very rare in Italian stamps and so the CV is very high, but still no collector wants to buy them for that price?

The market decides, not a catalogue value.

Simply a supply and demand situation.

I wonder on which grounds Sassone has calculated these catalogue values.

Recent sales and auction results? I do believe it.

The suggested bid part of this auction speak volumes.

These are all PRINTER WASTE , NOT really collector material ,all with fake catalog values .Looks like some of the garbage AFINSA Bienes Tangibles SA was putting into investors portfolio's in Spain. .

Be very careful dealing with people who deal in over price stuff that other Stamp Auction firms would not touch .

thank you for your answers.

about the listed examples (first part of my opening post), I wonder really how Sassone made the CV, and if they are really there today (I don't own a Sassone to look there).

about the last example (link at the end of my opening post), here the text of the article in Google translator, it seems it was really in a "real" auction house:

"from 1978 one of the six existing 120 lire copies for the "XX Philatelic Day" with the writing on the right, instead of on the left for a displacement of the sheet in the notching phase, unlisted, starts from a base of 15,000 euros."

There are Hundreds & hundreds of different Italian stamps ,perfs shifted, missing colors.
ect ect. Sassone Always prices things at least 1000 % more than the retail values.Even for the Italian states you can divide the cat. price by 20 for most of the stamps.
I Don't see anything curious about these.Maybe they were sold but at what price I would like to know. The auction house in question does not list their results…
Many varieties at retail prices from Italy.:
