As the family 'archivist' I have been working on digitizing everything from old photos, negatives, slides, documents, and VHS tapes. But my family also has a large cache of 8mm and Super 8mm films from the 1950s through the 1960s (my father worked for Kodak his entire career) that have remained un-digitized. So I purchased a 'frame-by-frame' film scanner which converts 8mm and Super 8 movies into MPEG-4 (MP4) digital movie files at 1080P/ 30 fps. I have been very pleased with it although it is a bit slow (3' reel takes about 20 minutes and 7" reel takes about 60 minutes). Unit has a 2.4" LCD screen and saves the movies to a 32 GB SD card, it also can connect to a PC or laptop.
Once I get done (within the next few weeks), the unit will probably have about 50-60 hours on it but I will not have any need for it again (I doubt that any new 8mm or Super8 film will be shot in my family). I will probably be throwing it out on
