Apparently from a well respected family.
Mr. Basedow left Tanunda 1876 as appointed a Magistrate.

Had a lot of input on establishing the Tanunda to Gawler Road.
I have cycled part of that road as a 10 year old.

Dated 31 August, 1868 and rouletted, the stamp is likely SG 24, 25 or 26 (each catalogue at around £4 with a 'x 4' on cover).

Lovely relic, 150 years old, would have pride of place in my collection.
