Interesting Line Pair - 599 Type 1 And 599A Type 2!

I picked up this interesting line pair my local stamp club auction yesterday.

(click image to see high resolution)
It has a small cease on one of the stamps but I think it was a good buy for $75.

Since these lines usually separate different rotary press printing plates, did one plate consist of all stamp subjects with Type 1 and did the other plate consist of all stamp subjects with Type 2?

A used combination pair cats about $1000. They are not very common compared to mint pairs.
