The cancel on this stamp is from Benton Harbor, Michigan the home of Alvin Filstrup. Filstrup was the purchasing manager for Covel Manufacturing and a well known stamp collector.
You may want to check the perforations as Filstrup created his own private perf stamps using a Rosback stroke perforator. The perforations would gauge 11.75. These were used on personal and company mailings. They are not considered fakes but a unique area of collecting.
They are listed in the Scott's Specialized Catalog in the vending and affixing machine perforation section, page 569 in the catalog I'm looking at.
Hey,great to see that people are looking,first excuse my inglish,i'm south american living for 35 years in france,second,i recived 4 big boxes in wich I found about 100000 stamps in albums and loose,so I espend 2 years sortened them out,and I come acros very interestin usa stamps in a album dating from the therties,so i'm glad that I found a place to show them up,beacouse here in france nobody expetisise usa stamps,thank you for your coments,still have to learne how to use this tool,thanks
