I'm assuming this is a ink smear, would something like this make them less desirable or is it just ignored?
I posted two sets of pictures both taken with a flash, first one no filter the second one filtered.
Which ones are preferable and more revealing?

Hounddog Bill...BOTH...The more information the better...this gives experts out there a better chance of pertinent replies.

Good question..lots of collectors only want perfect stamps, and that's ok..I like perfect stamps, but also collect smears, tails, under inking, etc.

Your coils have two ink smears...Now to ask what caused them is only and opinion..99% of all people alive in 1930 are not here now...And no one could chime in and give 100% accuracy on what caused these ink smears.

Having said, the colour of the smears and the actual stamp colours are almost identical...See picture below..Top, smear colour..Bottom stamp colour.

For me to answer your question..I would pay 10% more cause I collect them..Others would not.

Robert

I like the oddity of the smears, myself. Tells a story in itself. Love the colour investigation by Wert. Great tool. I would pay a small premium for the items (25%) depending on the visual impact. Chris
