Wondering if this has been seen by others? Not noted in Unitrade. Thoughts and feedback welcomed.

Hi Wigeon44

These are Scott 415 Canadian Goose stamps.

These are ink smears...Sort of common in lots of Canadian stamps...A lot of people don''t want these, but me (and others) I would hold on to them as oddities.

Robert

They are not in Unitrade or any other main catalog because they are not constant varieties.

I'm beginning to realize that I am. Quality assurance freak. The smears on a modern stamp are fascinating, and would be welcome additions in my collection. Beauty is in the eye...Chris

I agree Chris and Robert. While some printing mistakes are repeatable errors and can be described in the catalogues these freak mistakes are unique and cannot be included. Because of this uniqueness they are sought after by some collectors and hold some value. I put one of these blocks up on a small Canadian online auction last year and it went for $100 CDN. I'll happily hold on to the other block for my collection. Being a retired waterfowl biologist and having met Angus Shortt the well known artist who designed this stamp it has special meaning for me. I also have a number of FDC and postcards with this stamp that Mr Shortt autographed. There is an archive of his papers held by the University of Manitoba and his biography is included here:
