Hello, Can you help me to evaluate my Penny Red stamp and tell how much money can worth? Perforation 14.white paper and bright red brown (I think) Thank you George
If you still want to know which stamp it is. It appears to have alphanet III letters, a type I large crown and not blued paper. That would make it C9 (toned to white paper), C9A (dito), or C10 (white paper). Looking at the back, I am tempted to say it is white paper.
It is difficult to tell an exact colour from a scan, but I am tempted to put it in the rose-reds common to C10. The colours, however, are the best way to identify the stamp. These catalogue in the £ 10 - £ 20 range. The C9 is catalogued between £ 80 and £ 250, and the C9A £ 50 - £ 100.
Your Michel colour key is useless to identify the colour.
Your stamp is a very nice example and well-centred.
@NSK A pleasant surprise to finally receive help. Unfortunately, I don't have the stamp at hand to check the color of the paper - this is simpler than the color of the stamp. Many thanks and I wish you happy holidays.
