Gentlemen.
Yes, it is a First Day issue of Scott 796...Nothing earth shaking, but what got me it was mailed from Manteo N.C. in 1937.

I looked up the town of Monteo and around early 1900's the population was just over 400 people...Maybe not rare but collectable..???

Hi Robert,
Dare Country NC was chosen for this Virginia Dare commemorative stamp and First Day cover, 226,730 covers were cancelled and given this postmark on that day.

Catalog value is not high and unfortunately the cover above is badly damaged and toned.
