Try Central China Liberation Area ,around Honan ,Hupeh and Hunan .

Yeah, I knew it was Central China, but it's not in my Scott catalogue. There seems to be some gaps in the Scott.

This is where Stanley Gibbons shines, it will be in their specialised catalogue,
which is not in my bookcase.

No ....Scott doesn't list local issues in this case . The stamp you have was issued by the RED POST for the Soviet Areas. So it would be a local .To do further research you would need the catalog by YANG'S for the China Liberated Area 1930-1950 Postage Stamp Catalogue .

Thanks everyone. I only have a small handful of stamps out of hundreds and hundreds for China that I couldn't seem to find in Scott. Do you know if the other catalogues list the revenue stamps, too?

There is a seperate catalog for revenues of China ,it cost about $50.00.
