Did the P.M.G/AusPost document 'ordered & paid for amounts' of private perfin sheets/stamps sold to a individual company. ?

May generally provide me with numbers on how many E D & Co (Edward Dunlop) Die 2(60º) stamps possibly survive since small number per sheet were one of a variety of die2's.

Any info' about total 1d Red sheets bought by E. D. appreciated. Thankyou.

So that means, that Dunlop didn't have an own perfin punching machine, but bought complete perforated sheets?

That would mean, that the Australian post bought/built that Dunlop dies extra for the company? Seem's interesting ...

In the UK firms would buy dies from Sloper or another manufacturer and would perfin the stamps in house.

The GPO wouldn't be involved.

I'd be surprised if the Australian Post Office provided this service.

I always assumed the 'private' part of a private perfin meant it was done without official PO involvement.
