London International Show & Coronavirus

An American dealer recently posted on another forum that he had cancelled his trip to London in May for the 8 day International due to the Coronavirus outbreak in Europe. Hope no one else is doing the same.

The London 2020 Organising Committee are monitoring very closely the official UK Government website on this topic. You can follow the government's advice directly at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

At the moment there are no problems in London whatsoever and we are planning on carrying on with the exhibition exactly as scheduled."

May is a long way off so there is still time to see how thing evolve; but folks should educate themselves on the cancellation options for their travel and lodging. The good news is that spring and summer times see a lower chance of contagious disease issues.

Thus far, we've got off lightly here, with relatively few cases. The expectation must be that things will become more challenging, and that against a backdrop of a ten year-long Government assault on health funding that has the system creaking this Winter even before the coronavirus is added to the mix. I'd be very wary of booking travel etc at this juncture.

I think as the week has progressed, we have all got a little more worried.
There seems to be three reactions.
1...it is just a bad cold (overly optimistic)
2...we will all die (overly pessimistic)
3..a curious belief that it is all a conspiracy to undermine one or more politicians.
There seems to be a lot of disease and pain in the world and we are so centred on developed nations that we appear to have lost all sense of proportion.
I think the French are cancelling gatherings of more than 5,000 and the Swiss are limiting gatherings to 1,000 ...it seems absurd over reaction. If too many are self isolating then even the health services will grind to a halt.

If I had reservations I would not cancel them unless there was a financial reason unless the show is cancelled. If you do not have tickets, maybe it pays to wait to see if fares drop. At worst, you can tour of London.

In today's blame game environment, it often pays to be cautious. There is always a search for blame and if it happens once you may be history.
