Jogil has got me thinking about perforation accuracy.

I took a look at a couple of blocks, then I measured the "Combat Sports" stamp {JUDO} on page 604 of the Unitrade 2020 Catalouge.

The printed perforation for these stamps in 13.0 x 13.0
I measured perforation 13.4 x 13.4

Unless I am doing something wrong, it sure looks like a different perforation Measurement to me.

Robert

I've noticed many issues over the past years have 13.3 (or so) when 13.0 is listed by Unitrade or Canada Post

You are correct BlackJag
I have been paying attention the past couple of days with perforation accuracy..Hey I am not jogil {Perforation Guru }, but I am trying t get a hold on perforations...Below is a portion of perforation differences I have come across...There is so much work, and it is very time consuming...I only work with MINT stamps to alleviate the chance of shrinkage, do to soaking, etc.

Robert

Another example is designated as 13.0 x 13.0
Look at the difference...13.4 x 13.4

Also what surprised me is the King George V Medallion Issue.
Book perforation is assigned 11.0 x 11.0

Here is a mint block with actual perforation of 11.2 x 11.0
See below

I don't know the answer to the use of the same printing plate.

Two different printing companies were involved.

I guess the same plate could have been used for the engraved colour printing by both companies.

But as the design didn't change, the same copyright @1977 would have to be used by both firms.

Canadian Bank Note printed the 1977 issue with 1 colour engraving and lithographed in three colours.

British American Bank Note Company printed the July 3, 1979 issue with 1 colour engraving and photogravured in two colours.

Both were printed in 100 stamp panes, but CBN used 12.0 x 12.5 perforations and BABN used 13.0 x 13.3.

Getting back on track..And thank you jogil for your expert information.
Should have just called this post "Perforation Measurement Adjustment".

Here is another example of Catalouge and Archives Canada perforation assigned to a stamp.

Canada 876a "Military Aircraft" stamps.
1 - Catalouge assigned perforation is 13.3 x 13.3.
2 - Archives Canada assigned perforation 13.0 x 13.5
3 - Actual perforation 13.0 x 13.5

Information courtesy and property Archives Canada

There are many more perforation measurement irregularities that will be posted here over time.
