This is Germany 269 and to me it looks like rose and not rose red which would make it 269b which is quite valuable.

Judging color on the basis of a picture is Always very difficult.

Having said that, the stamp you are referring to is a bright red color, your stamp seems to be one of the more rose tinted kind.

Different colors of the same stamps is and will be a tricky one.

Most of those stamps are 100 yeaa old and an exact determination of color will only get harder.

It would not surprise me if in the future a mayor overhaul of catalogues is neccesary, due to color changes(caused by Enviroment, light, age or other influences)

It is ok to base a collection on information which has been in catalogues for decades. But there is nothing wrong with taking a fresh look at the whole color situation and all the changes it inevetably will go through.

With the same disclaimer Johan gives about judging color, this appears to me to be the low-value color, flat plate printing (Scott 269 / Michel 309 A P a).

I should also note that in my 2015 Scott, their pricing of the rarer color is waaaaay out of whack. They price it at $1,500 MH and $$3,400 MNH. Michel catalogs it at €5 / €14, and it can be had on ebay for €2-3.

Michel lists five different color varieties for this issue. Three are only for the flat plate printings (top row in the demo), and two are only for the rotary press printing (bottom row).

They are also ordered from most common (left) to least (right), though none are rare -- highest MNH CV for any of these normal perfed varieties is €14.
