For all the rock and rollers out there, Sanda Island was once owned by Jack Bruce the Bass player of Cream (Yay) |

I would love to own an island, but that one sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy to cold for me. I think I'd do better in the Caribbean or South Pacific!
Nice sheetlets, though. |

COMPETITION !! Quote: I would love to own an island I cannot give away an Island, but I can give away a nice little prize to the first person to answer a simple question [Huh!]. What is the connection between this thread and the thread started by nr-notrare ??? A full answer is required, no one word ditties or silly answers like "They are both by SCF members" Here is the other thread: https://www.stampcommunity.org/topi...D=7174#58288The prize will be your choice of any Miniature sheet or Booklet Pane issued by Great Briatin during the Festival of Stamps in May, on a cover with a show cancel. Posted personally by me ! You can see the goodies here, the latest offerings are on the later posts. The winner can decide any time up to May 2nd which item he/she wants.[In case of further issues] http://goscf.com/t/7006&whichpage=1I will be running a few more silly competitions during the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled and don't go to bed in case you miss something. Your time starts now...... Londonbus1....well, get moving, think...think.... |

You have me beat on this one. "Another way of collecting" ..PNG and Sanda Island? A stranger mixture you could not find. They are both Islands that's about it I should think. I don't think Botticelli or Greco spent time in PNG |

Before I lay my weary head, I'll give you what to chew, A few kind words well chosen, Some say could be a clue.
Here it is:
From one thread to another There is a great connection, But nowt at all to do with stamps, Don't look in that direction,
Travel back and forth, Between the Islands here and there, You'll find the beer will give you cheer, And the answer, thus, laid bare.

Are you looking for an antipodal answer? Each thread started by a poster regarding a place on the opposite side of the earth?
I doubt it, so ya got me.

There was an American war correspondent named Darnton(?) who was killed by friendly fire (bombing) in the New Guinea area during WWII (shortly after the Battle of Coral Sea, I think). A boat was named after him, and the boat was eventually beached at Sanda. Afterwards, I think a pub was opened, named after the boat that was named after the war correspondent killed in New Guinea. I think that's where the beer comes in, and the link between the two islands. Of course, after a few beers, I think you can make anything connect! k |
