Hi

I am doing a lot of investigation lately on Canadian stamp perforation measurements.

I have a block Scott 882a printed in March 1981....5,688,000 were printed according to Archives Canada...Below is the discrepancy I have with this (these) stamps assigned perforations...All perforation measurement adjustments are done with mint stamps only to remove the probability of shrinkage with soaking processes.

1 - Catalouge - 13.3 x 13.3
2 - Archives Canada - 13.5 x 13.5
3 - Actual perforation - 13.0 x 13.3

Below is two measurements taken of the same stamp...
One stamp using 13.3 x 13.3 measurement
One stamp using 13.0 x 13.3 measurement

There is enough discrepancies with some Canadian stamps, that some one should pay attention to the accuracy of posted perforation measurements....I tried contacting BNAPS to see if they were interested in crating a new study group called "Perforation Measurement Adjustment", but have no heard whether or not it is worth while implementing.

Courtesy and information owned by Archives Canada

I have found at least 30+ discrepancies so far...Many, many, more out there.

Robert

Hi Robert - I think the effort is warranted! Be interesting to see what BNAPS says in response to your query. Chris

Talking to BNAPS...I don't think it will become a new process in the study group area...That is ok...On to the next stamp investigations.

wert: You are doing a great job by bringing this to our attention and by taking the correct gauge readings for them.

Coming from the "Perforation Guru", those are kind words.
