Shown is the indicia from an 1874 issue Wrapper (Scott W120) used at Orangeville, Pa in 1884 (with a nice purple cds).

Note the 'extra rim to left' and I think I see letter doubling, especially is the P-O- part of 'Postage. There is also some blue ink on the bridge Of Ben's nose.

Would this be considered to be a double transfer? Kiss print? Or other?

Got the answer from Ken Lawrence via email:

"It's similar to a kiss/slip print, in the context of an embossed print. It is not a constant variety.
It's a splendid production freak, probably unique."

Time for an APS cert !

US Postal Stationery of this era is printed from dies, not plates. Double entry is out but a kiss print or setoff may be the culprit.

I don't see the value justifying the cost of a cert.

In a follow-up email from Ken, he said the same thing regarding a cert. Fair enough. John, what kind of premium, if any, would you estimate on this over cat value?

I see its retail value being driven more as a piece of Pennsylvania postal history.

As a stationery EFO collector, if I ran across this at a dealer's table for $10, I'd snag it.
