I found this today while removing some used PNCs from paper. At first glance, I thought the light blue plate number was missing, perhaps a plate hopper. On closer examination, I found that the light blue color was offset to the right and the darker blue plate number printed over the top of the light blue.

The scan shows a properly lined up V2111 on the left, the offset stamp with red ovals highlighting the offset, and the unmodified offset V1 11 on the right side.

Has anyone seen something like this before? Are they uncommon? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

Hj Scott. The "shifted plate number" was not uncommon back in the day when the BEP was printing stamps. The FOP has some very nice examples, on some a digit has shifted totally to the previous or next stamp. Coil Line and The Plate Number have several referrals to them

This is the first I can recall hearing of for the Egret and I like it a lot.

I've communicated with a few dealers and PNC experts. One Egret #V2111 with has the light blue 1 offset to the right was found, also a couple with the black 1 offset to the left have also been found. I like it as well and will definitely add it to my collection.
