Need Help With This Scott 36 Stamp

Need help with this Scott 36...My buddy Jim gave it to me with other Scott 36's.
It is blue/green, so it must be Scott 36d or Scott 36ii.

I did a perforation measurement to see if it was a Scott 36d with a perf. of 12.0 x 12.25.
To my surprise it measured 12.0 x 12.40...I have posted pictures ( sorry the quality of my phone)

1 - But you will see what I am having trouble identifying. I put it
beside a 12.25 normal stamp.
2 – The using a Unitrade gauge to compare a 12.25 to a 12.40.

Am missing some thing here..???

yellow + blue = green
I suspect you have a color changeling which was once originally green.
Yellow light-fades easily.
I would ignore the current color and base the initial ID on perforation rate.
Is there a 12.0 x 12.4 among the green printings?

I know what you mean John...I have checked every thing in the Unitrade Catalouge and Gportch write up and nothing that I can see is anyway near a 12.40...It has me baffled.

Now if you think the above one is odd...Take a look at this MINT Scott 35 Small Queen....

1 - Catalouge perf. assigned 12.0 x 12.0
OR
2 - Catalouge perf. assigned 11.5 x 12.0

Actual perf. 12.25 on ALL sides.

These gauges could help.

It's the perforation gauge that Brian Cannon helped put together.

Since your perforation 12.40 gauge stamp has a specific flag cancel on it, it would mean that it was used at the earliest in 1897 which was at the end of the SQ period (1870-1897). A pattern of perforation gauge increase was noted over time on this issue with perforation 12.25 gauge being mostly the last around the same end time. The exception being rare perforation 12.50 gauge starting at the beginning of the SQ period in 1870 instead. Thus, it could be from a Second Ottawa rare last SQ 1897 perforation 12.40 gauge due to the specific flag cancel being first from around 1897 on the stamp. However, it could be earlier since the stamp could have been bought sometime before being used and it could have been mailed out later after 1897 as well. See type 7 below.

By the looks of the flag chart you posted, it looks like either No. 5 - 6 or 7.....Looking closer and counting the far right vertical lines and flag curve, I would expect that it is NO. 5 flag.

Any more information appreciated.

Now this Scott 36 has me confused.
This Scott 36 perf measures 12.25 x 12.0 which is opposite of the Scott 36d having a perf. of 12.0 x 12.25

ANY OPINIONS...???
