A little bit of digging, and I found two, not one 6p Heuss! With few exceptions, I don't collect used, modern stamps, so this one's a freebie. I now know why I have these ... they were a part of a much larger lot of mint, never hinged stamps I purchased. It seems that I had already pilfered the two mint stamps from the original photo, but the offer still stands on the remainder of these, Rod ...

Here's a couple of photos to choose from.

Brian

PS: For your amusement, here's a picture from my Austria album. No surprise that I am missing the girl from Tirol!

Checked my collection and I don't have that particular stamp from the Austrian costume set either. So that I can find this thread again is this the Austria Scott#520 stamp issued in 1950? I know what you are thinking - what's with this guy but I'm cataloging my Argentina stamps and now doubting my identification skills as a result.

There are hundreds of cheap stamps , spaces in my internationals that I never found or never come across . I am sure someone could make a business out of filling spots in the international's .They could sell them for a buck apiece and collectors would still buy them ,just to fill blank spaces .

Morning all,

If they are that scarce; the, why are they so cheap? Seems like the law of supply and demand has been suspended? Take a look at their denominations and the contemporary postal rates. Do they fill a legitimate postage need?

Simple answer----because dealers don't know . It takes experience and collecting over a long period of time to realize what stamps don't show up .

If you handle common stamps over a long period and try to fill album pages you start to see the same blank spaces in each collection you handle .

I had that with a couple of those DDR worker's safety stamps (can't remember the numbers off the top of my head ). I couldn't find a dealer selling the singles and after almost two years I got both in a random trade. Funny how those things work.

The past two months have been merging a huge worldwide collection put together in the 1950's and 1960's into my main collection . This collection was from a owner who spend some serious money and added over the years many impressive complete sets .

But as I posted earlier the same cheap stamps that my collection is missing his collection is also missing in a lot of countries . Drives me nuts .
