Impressive dedication to a specialized collection! It's great that he decided to share the fruits of his labor via a web site so that collectors around the world can see. I enjoyed exploring its many sections.
One quibble I have, however, is that he sometimes misunderstood the subject of a stamp and therefore decided it was an error (even though it wasn't) or didn't have the full story on a commemoration and decided it was an error when it could be argued that another opinion was equally plausible/valid.
As a collector of US commemorative coins, one of his "error" stamps jumped out at me. He stated that the 1936 three-cent stamp for the centennial of Texas was an error because "it was only in 1845 that Texas became part of the United States."
The stamp did not mark the centennial of Texas' statehood, it marked the 100th anniversary of its Declaration of Independence from Mexico which occurred on March 2, 1836 making 1936 the correct centennial year. The stamp is not an error at all.
I think it is very plausible that with the sheer amount he collected that he is not always right. I also found at least one example which is not quite correctly described. Nonetheless I find it impressive and I also look through this website from time to time since quite a bit there is also relevant for my collection.
He has left an email address on the website. I suggest you write to him notifying him about any incorrectness you find.
@withdrawn: As I stated in the first line of my post, I am impressed by the web site and very much appreciate his dedication to the hobby and his willingness to share his collection with others. My comment was not meant to detract from his efforts, but more to alert site visitors to the potential for misunderstandings.
I do plan on contacting him after I've spent more time on his site - I've enjoyed my time viewing his collection!
What a fascinating website! Some errors about the errors have to sneak in from time to time, but overall it's really impressive. Lots of work went into it, and it's fun to browse.
