Good Afternoon,

I'm interested in selling my collection. I know most folks are working from home during this Covid-19 pandemic. You can easily do video conferencing via phone or computer for an idea of what my collection looks like. I do not want my stamps to leave the country to get evaluated and really I'd rather have someone visit when this pandemic is over for a true evaluation. Who - THAT YOU KNOW OF - is reputable and trustworthy around Michigan?

Thanks

Probably a good idea to let people know what you have. US? Foreign? Both?

Agree --- stamp buyers/Dealers don't run around the country to look at stamps . It is a waste of time .

Who did you buy stamps from , did you keep the old invoices or your canceled checks . Before anybody drives over can you please tell us about your purchases. How is the collection kept ,is it in shoe boxes, are they mounted in albums if so what kind , Do the better items rate as seperate listings .......

Too many questions before a drive out to view them .

Thank you very much - Yes, I collect the world in stamps. I have a vast collection.

That can't be all that there is in Michigan and the surrounding areas - I hope - They would corner the market and could name their price.

Is anyone else in or around Michigan? I would prefer at least three options and not just the one.

You could try:

https://www.randyschollstampcompany.com/ In Cincinnati

or

https://www.drbobfriedmanstamps.com/ in Chicago metro area.

I CAN'T vouch for either of these buyers. They just advertise a lot in Linns magazine.

Dan

Experienced stamps need a home too. I'd rather have an example that is imperfect than no example.
I collect for enjoyment, not investment.

Silly to be selling stamps to a dealer that doesn't have customer base for what you got .

I've seen him at Chicago-area shows. Also, to kind of state the obvious: There are a number of dealers in the Chicago area who could probably do this. Some of them probably do Detroit-area shows and thus come to your area from time to time. A list of Midwest dealers (including some in Michigan) is available here:

As for Dr. Friedman: I don't know him, but he clearly specializes in breaking down big collections.

I just bought a collection this year from Dr. Friedman and am a long time satisfied customer. Bought from Randy Scholl maybe 20 years ago. Got good deals also from him.

"I collect the world ,I have a vast collection " what would make that a vast collection ? Can you explain it ,maybe a consignment to a auction firm like Rasdale Stamp Co. in Chicago ,they are big influence in the state of Michigan.

I've worked hard to find the rarities I have, so to me this is a very serious hobby. The best way to tell you is to show you - I'll take some pictures and post them in Google Drive... if Stamp Community allows for that.

I also was going to mention Sterling (-Kingsbrook) stamps in Brighton, and America's Stamp Shop in Berkley Michigan. The latter has almost 23,000 feedbacks on ebay and seems to always have a large stock. Thus, they are engaged and active buyers.

In this digital age and house arrest time we live in I have to believe that if you wanted to get an evaluation you could certainly do it to any number of buyers / dealers digitally. You could host some cheap web storage, use a free FTP link, dropbox, to send good images to interested parties and I'm sure many other options. E-commerce has no boundaries and major auction firms, ebay, hip stamps, all sell items from $1 - $10,000 without a buyer ever touching the item.

I personally have almost all my stamps, especially the more valuable ones scanned at 1200 dpi both front and rear organized by country / year / issue. It would be easy enough for me to send 100 potential buyers a large folder to view and evaluate in 1 mailing.

STALLZER ---I disagree ..... {new readers here ,please understand I disagree with everyone here ,all the time }. I trust 2 or 3 firms with their descriptions , all the rest over hype their stuff and clearly don't make offers from pictures, from a collector . If the dealer doesn't know you then any offer will be based only what he can see and then there are hidden defects that they are worried about .
at it .
We haven't even establish if this is a worthwhile collection without seeing pictures or invoices on purchases .A dealer wants something before he drives out to see it . The standard answer in this case is YOU bring it to me and I will look.
