Hello there,
(complete newbie here)
I have a question regarding this series:
http://www.timbressuisses.ch/encaps...?page=t46604

I have it like this:

the fact that has the date that came out and local might make it special in this case?

Cheers!

Hi LEP, welcome to the forum.

The stamps were cancelled on the first day of
issue.
Looks like someone has soaked them off a FDC.

IMO should have left them on the cover.

Thanks for the insight! They all have gum on the back, maybe they weren't soaked, or does it still stays? Either way I can't determine if it's the original gum or not..:)

long journey ahead expects me... :)

Looks like these were originally obtained from Swiss Post as cancelled ( used ) stamps. We call these CTO's or "Cancelled To Order". Back in the 40's and 50's that is how it was done.

First day cancels were applied to West Germany and Berlin "post office fresh" stamps. Sometimes these stamps can be found in pairs, with one uncancelled (MNH) and the other with a first day cancel.

It appears that the same practice was done in Switzerland. These were hinged and put on the album page.

Nice!
maybe these ones originally came in pairs, because above this set there is one uncancelled set..

I bought a couple swiss albuns and I'm starting a collection.

Thank you!
