A nice Oakland College green CDS on cover with 11A. Appears to be Chase plating notations. Wondering if anyone recognizes the pencil sketch below the stamp as something that would be attributed to Dr. Amonette.

Dr. Charles DiComo has an exhibit displayed on the USPCS web site that includes similar covers as ex Amonette. There were Oakland College covers from Dr. Amonettes collection sold in Siegel auction 783 in 1996 but alas no photos.

Bill was definitely familiar with the Patterson correspondence, from Oakland College.

I had several of these - nice covers - and recall a brief discussion with him about them - I don't recall what he said though.

The doodle is someone drawing the guide dot position.

tx I was wondering if Dr. Amonette was known for making those types of drawings on covers?

If Bill was going to embellish as such on a cover, my guess is it wouldn't be plating related. He would note a plate position, but then write about the color.

A quick sample of his writing - apologies for the cell camera.

It's a nice item in it's own right. No need to establish any kind of provenance. None of the notes or diagrams will do that anyway.

Thanks Winston, not sure why I got a bee in my bonnet to know if this is an "ex Amonette" piece. You're right of course!
