I have a cover from East Germany with the 24pfg Month of the German- soviet friendship stamp attached. This stamp was issued on 1.12.1951 but the cover is cancelled on 23.11.51 Normal conclusion would be that this is a fake cancel, but why would a forger make such an obvious mistake or are there other possible explanations?

The 2pf stamp was also issued in 1948 in the Soviet zone during the allied occupation. Only difference is the watermark. Up till now I go for a mistake in the setting of the canceller combined with the use of this first day cover for normal correspondence ( but what are the chances of these two happening at the same time??)
