For others, as ignorant as I on the cancellation
from wiki

Qingdao also known in the West by its postal map spelling Tsingtao, is a major city in eastern Shandong province, People's Republic of China.

In 1891 the Qing government decided to make the area a defense base against naval attack and began to improve Qingdao's existing fortifications. German naval officials observed and reported on this Chinese activity during a formal survey of Kiautschou Bay in May 1897. Subsequently, German troops seized and occupied the fortification.[3] China conceded the area to Germany the following year, and the Jiaozhou Bay concession, as it became known, existed from 1898 to 1914. With an area of 552 square kilometres (136,000 acres; 213 sq mi), it was located in the imperial province of Shandong (alternately romanized as Shantung or Shan-tung) on the southern coast of the Shandong Peninsula in northern China. Jiaozhou was romanized as Kiaochow, Kiauchau or Kiao-Chau in English and Kiautschou in German.

Alas! I have been exposed.
(pass the grape knee high)

Maybe it was my age, but the Philippine "San Miguel" beer
is the best I have ever tasted in the world.

San Mig San Mig Bathwater!

And I have to admit, I haven't been all that impressed by Tsingtao either.

No: a pint of Guinness in a shebeen in County Kerry, now, that's your only man

I once spent two weeks on a small boat travelling along the North coast of Irian Jaya, with nothing but a plentiful supply of Tiger, a large barrel of beer nuts, and an all-male ship's complement for company. Never again.

A nice cancel from Cannes on a nice stamp with tab. Or selvage. Or margin. Not sure what to call it.

I usually take the stamp(s) off of the paper but in this case it looks much better left on I think.

Not sure what the words in the cancel mean but the date is understandable anyway. And Cannes.

The abbreviation ALPES MARMES is for Alpes Maritimes, a department (like a state) in southern France.
