Nice stamp! Never seen this cancel before. Quite interesting.

As I saw in one of your other posts, you'd be interesting in the plating of the 3c Washington. Maybe would it be nice to start plating some of yours! If you want to, of course.

Hi Laurie02 --

That cancel is a fan favorite -- it is the Taunton Ms. cds with integral "3cts" rate.

If you bought this as a #11A -- you will be pleasantly surprised -- as despite the somewhat fuzzy scan (especially at the right side) -- I plated your stamp to position 22L5E -- which makes this a Scott #10A.

Regards // ioagoa

EDIT -- Side note to Captain Stamp -- Oops -- I see now that while I was plating Laurie's stamp and typing my post -- that you indicated you wanted to give this one a go-around. Unfortunately, I did not refresh my screen before posting the plate position. My mistake - and not to be repeated.

No problem! I was really hesitating for the color, and wasn't sure if it was OB. That confirms my thoughts!

Saltsburgh/Salisbury.... Yep, probably jumped on Saltsburgh too quickly. Here is a Saltsburgh cover that I used to own. May have another around but no time to look for it. Color, letter spacing and thickness seems different. Missing pieces of letters are pretty common and evident in both examples, however.

@txstamp and @sinclair2010, thank you both for your input. Is there anything to suggest that my green cancel isn't actually green? Since blue requires yellow to be added to turn something green, it would have taken a considerable amount of time and expertise to fake the cancel that I have. I have found two other SALISBURY cancels, that appear similar by way of the lettering, but neither of them are green.

It does appear to be green, but I'm looking at a scan, and so I cannot be sure.
Of course, blue cancels often appear green with time, or on buff covers.
Then there are the not so true-greens, which are somewhere in between green and blue.

Its always good to find a reference / comparison copy, so keep looking.
There are a lot of "Salisbury's", around. I did a quick scan of the American Stampless Cover Catalog, and these listings showed up for the New York version .... not sure if its yours or not.
