Here's a less than beautiful cover with a pair, 71-81R3, from Philly to San Fran.
I snagged it because I like that it's a vertical pair.

Never fails to amaze me how careless some folks are with 170 year old covers. At least the scriber did write "Package" directly on the cover.

Nice pair, stampcrow! Is that a position dot bottom stamp, lower right corner?

Moyock, yes it is.

Whoever wrote 'Package' had a heavy hand...

Interesting cover. I guess it's a Lady's Cover, but it's bigger. Turns out it a Valentine cover and embossed. New Haven CT cancel 1856.

(Edited) I've added the original Valentine greeting card found inside the cover. However the card itself is blank.

I haven't yet plated the stamp

Wow, that is big! That would be extra special if the original greeting card was inside.

First post with an image acquired (in Home mode) from my new scanner, an Epson V600.

Copperish orange brown from sheet position 19R2e (ex-Amonette):

Classic Coins, I added the greeting card to the post above.

I use a Epson Perfection V550 Photo, I'm very satisfied.
Nice image, I'm still a fan of the Close-up you provided with the macro lens.

CC,

Nice image. Can you post a side-by-side scan of that copperish OB and a normal OB?

Thanks, rogdcam and banknoteguy.

As requested, here is a typical OB with the copperish. The copperish impressions have been described as "rusty" in color, with slightly-discolored paper.

Classic Coins --

That is a gem of a copperish OB -- and would be one of the highlights of any serious color chart -- and ex-Amonette to boot. A really beautiful stamp with striking post office fresh color.

I also use an Epson V-600 -- and I always scan in home mode with the Epson default settings -- (other than the DPI which I typically leave at 1,200 when scanning stamps for plating purposes). That scan of your copperish is absolutely gorgeous -- and even resized down to SCF's 200kb limit shows incredible detail. Thanks for showing it!!

Regards // ioagoa

Thanks for the kind comments, ioagoa.

Regarding the resizing, all my images are hosted on ImageShack, and are not resized to 200kb by the image optimizer. The first copperish image (198kb) and the side-by-side image (996kb) are posted at full size.
