I thought this was all about the big numbers in the cancels.
Apologies- if misguided.

For the plate numbers: use a good scanner, and enlarge. That might help.

That is for the identification of the post office where the stamp has been cancelled.

Rod,

did you identify the '506' duplex of Margate on your plate 207 stamp?

No I didn't, I wasn't sure it was my stamp.
I had a bunch of Penny Reds from an SCF member
and was interrupted mid scanning.

But 506 MARGATE duplex , I'll take that...thanks.

A new discovery for the database, no duplex listed at all.

Correction
The circular date stamp is listed (13 June 1882) missing the killer section
scan requested (But Mr. Oliver is not responding to emails)

No worries. It seems to have gotten side tracked which does happen often. We It seems have gotten to trying to identity Cancels also. To me that is interesting too as I have some material re: that and don't know much on them. Also, it helps me to learn a little geography!

May I suggest, if there is not one already, for you to start a Cancels thread for your interest? If there is one already, jump in it with your collection. Looks as if you have many and varied to identify. I will follow along too as it will help me….

I did a quick search and found no recent threads for your interest. However , I am on a phone which I sometimes have trouble seeing and navigating on. If there is not one, start one. I'll be on the look out for it and put some on it. William.

Hi William
Thankyou for the feedback.
As for "jump it in with your collection "to a new topic - I'm not sure what is meant here.
I'll leave it with others to do and decide
Paul

Pshann,

I think Stamps4Life suggested if you want information on the cancellations for your stamps, you could open a new topic to post your stamps in and ask questions.

I have come accross such threads, but there is never any harm in opening one. You can also add to this thread: https://goscf.com/t/66998

You added to this one.

Starting a new topic is fine. If any subject has a large number of threads, it is 'Penny Red Plate Numbers'. Cancellation numbers do not come close.

Thinking Plate 30? Suppose to have a Vertical Guideline NE, but I dont see it. Right side ReCut is noted in Statham's The Essential Guide...

Both seriffs on the 'G' look different. The bottom seriff of the 'B' is flat to slightly sloping northeast. Yours tends to the southeast. The left frame of the southeast corner is very strong on the imprimatur sheet, especially the lower half. This is very weak in your example.

But a lot of similarities. It does look to be the best match.

I looked again and was hard pressed to find a better match. I thought Plate 39, but then no. Thank you for looking - much appreciated.
