Origin Of Hamburg-Amerika Linie First Day Cards?

I have 3 different (2 pictured below) first day cards on Hamburg-Amerika Linie cards. All stamped with postmark Clarence Street Sydney.
Does anyone know the origin of these cards? Were they perhaps some promotional item for people who booked a voyage on one of their ships?

Curious cards indeed.
Not seen before in many years of collecting ephemera.
I note Hamburg Amerika Linie is a collecting discipline in itself.
