Some sell on ebay for next to nothing, some good for a pretty penny on auction sites. As a newbie, I can't tell. I did research and study the history of Schermacks, though. Thank you.

PennyRed, after your research and study, what Scott number do you conclude you have? |

You will laugh, but I thought it might be a 482A. As quickly as that was shot down, I know it was immediately obvious to experts that it is not. What are the differences you see? |

No, I won't laugh. It is very common for people to believe that the stamp they have must be the rarest variety instead of going with the odds that they have the more common (and less valuable) variety. It's like believing every lottery must be the winner, when the odds are very, very long in reality.
I agree, not a 482A.
But my question was what Scott # you believe you DO have. Or, what have you narrowed it down to? What have you learned from your research? |

I think what Mr Becker is looking for is what details in the stamp led to your decision. Also, if you crop all the blank space around your stamp you could post a larger image that allows us to see details. Devil is always in the details. A scan like this allows us to see all |

In the "giving you a fish" vs "teaching you to fish" world, I was seeking to draw you along on a journey of discovery and learning so that you could identify future similar stamps, etc.
Yes, 409 or 482 were the two possibilities I was headed toward, depending on watermark or not. |
