I sent some items off to be expertized on June 15.

Got this message from USPS on June 18:
We attempted to deliver your package at 11:50 am on June 18, 2020 in NEW YORK, NY 10016 but could not access the delivery location. We will redeliver on the next business day.

I emailed Larry Lyons and asked if anyone was going to be in the office. Never got a reply.

Since then, the USPS has not attempted a second delivery. Is the PO just going to sit on my package for eternity????????

I'm under a deadline as one of the items I submitted was an ebay purchase that I asked for an extension on.

USPS tracking is sometimes not up to date. Suggest you call the PF to see if the redelivery has happened.
In April they told me Tuesdays and Wednesdays were the days they were able to take calls.

I wonder if it is due to the COVID???? I can imagine how an uninformed person could think the PF is not a necessary service. I don't know if it is related, but the PF cert online search function has been experiencing problems lately. Maybe someone forgot to pay the electric bill.

I would not have sent them off except their website says they are open and still certifying stamps.

They are still up and running. I got a second-hand indication that things are still operating. I don't think you have to worry that it won't get done. But timelines are likely to be stretched. It took them a couple of days to provide the confirmation of receipt for me. Hopefully your ebay seller will give you the additional time needed. Most people are understanding that things are slower just now.

I do not speak directly for PF but can relate that the delays would be 100% related to the virus. Stretched resources is an apt description.

The committee for which I expertize cannot operate as normal, as the law limits the number of people who can meet at once. We arrange a day when two of us can examine and confer; this happens several days a month but it is sometimes hard to agree on a day. There are also administrative steps (e.g. photography, collation and filing, to name but a few) that no one ever sees.

Yeah. Just got delivered today. All good.

Glad to hear that, 1typesetter. These are strange times we are living in and so very many things that we take for granted aren't working as we are used to. FWIW, I have noticed a delay in deliveries, too. Nothing registered, but a few extra days in the mail anyway. I hope it comes back 100J!
