Is This Hitler Stamp From1946 Real Or Replica?

The Michel Oesterreich-Spezial catalog makes no mention of such a souvenir sheet, so it is highly likely that this item is bogus.

The catalog does show two values, including this one, and says the following: "Two values were printed but by prohibition of the occupying powers were not officially issued." The other stamp (5 + 3 g) shows the SS lightning bolts striking a map of Austria.

After a listing of these two essays (1200 DM each for MNH, 4000 DM for f.d.c. of the set issued + these two) the catalog says the following: "The essays came on the market before the day of issue of the standard series and (very rarely) are abused with the other values with cancellations. Expertizing is recommended.

I see reproductions posted & being sold online in varying formats, but don't know in what other format(s) the 2 unissued stamps may have been originally produced. According to an online source, the 2 unissued stamps identified in Michel as VI & VII, but I have not confirmed.

The Austrian ANK special catalog only mentions one official reprint of "Blitz-Totenmaske" with "FAKSIMILE" printed on the backside (14 €).

Those stamps are listed by Unificato (italian catalogue)

But no mention of souvenir sheets.

Modern day Third Reich fakes comes out of Russia or one of the Baltic countries ,we seem to see new ones each year .

Here's the genuine series, identified in Scott as B171-8. Design of the bogus souvenir sheet is the same, though the 12+12 is in a different corner and the central image is of course different. Also, the 5+3 is quite similar, with a dagger, rather than the SS lightning bolts, in the heart of Austria.

There is nothing on the back side of this sheet. It dosen't look too old but not brand new. I did got it from fleemarket arround 20 years ago. While I don't think it is real I am not a Professional on this mater. Thank you all!

Some of these Austria 1946 stamps appear to be based on reversing some of the symbols on these Serbia under German stamps occupation from 1941.

Good eye, jogil! Like it or not, ideology makes stamps more interesting than cartoon characters, Elvis or Princess Di. Interesting too that these basically anti-Semitic Serbian stamps commemorate the Nazis' bizarre association of Communism and Free Masonry with Judaism.
