Is there somewhere to go to find pictures of US stamps with plate damage, repairs, double transfers, etc.
ie. what does #653 Damaged Plate or Retouched Plate look like?

The Scott-listed damaged/retouched plate for 653 (19652 LL 72) is illustrated on page 174 of Loran C. French's "Encyclopedia of Plate Varieties on U.S. Bureau-Printed Postage Stamps", which is a hard to find book on the secondary market, but the Bible for this type of information. |

It's a great book, well worth searching for. And paying the price, as well (it won't be cheap). |

I got very lucky 3 or 4 years ago and found one for about one quarter of that. |

Wow. I must have been very lucky then. A friend at my local club gave me their copy gratis. At the same time, I also got "The Micarelli Identification Guide to US Stamps". Both great books, in my opinion. |
