I cannot answer about these but Scott has not provided spaces for many souvenir sheets over the years for many of the prolific issuing countries. If they did the album pages count would grow dramatically.
Thank you. Any idea why these are selling for so much. One SS in a group of 48 sells for $10.00. If they are no-big-deal to Scott, why are they selling so high? Are collectors really buying these?
Do they sell somewhere else? Does anyone actually try to collect all these SS's. Or, is it better to collect Solomon Islands up to 2313 and just stop there.
The catalog values are based on their face value and offer no proof tat there is any significant market for them. I would stop my collection at the point when they (Solomon Is or any other country) went nuts.
All for a population of about 650,000. Sounds like a wallpaper printing press solely to draw money from the pockets of topical collectors with absolutely no correlation to the postal needs of the country.
For irony, I looked in my meager Solomon Islands folder and found 2 similar covers both from 1981 from their philatelic bureau - not even using their own stamps!
